Advanced Search Tips
Here you can find an introduction in how to search for images in order to get good results. We are giving you a lot of helpful hints and advices.
In the following we are giving people, who are trained in searching for images, some tipps so that they are able to improve their skills.
1. Combine Keywords
If you want to search for more keywords, just enter a space character between the keywords. This space will be understood as an AND. By adding OR and NOT between keywords you can extend or narrow down your search.
Examples:
“flower bee“– would find all images with flowers and bee
“Ffower or bee” – would find all images with either flowers, bees or both
“flower not bee” – would find images of flowers, which do not picture bees.
(Instead of NOT you can put a minus (-) as well.)
2. Dictionary For Terms
If you are looking for a special layout or a special image effect, you may search with the following terms:
Isolated – it is easy to isolate a motive, for example for compositions.
White background, black background, colored background – the motif is in front of the background
Oblique view - the horizon is tilted
Defocused, Blurred Motion – blurred images and motives with a motion blur.
Selective Focus – the focus is on a small part of the image, the rest of the image is blurred
Copy Space – the image is perfect for adding text
Background – the image may be used as a background for a montage
Further keywords for style are for example close up, top view, aerial photo, studio shot, soft focus, high key, wide angle
A search for persons can be specified by using the following keywords:
Age of person: 0-12 months, 1-3 years, 3-8 years, 8-13 years, 13-18 years, 18-30 years, 30-45 years, 45-60 years, 60 and older, baby, child, young adult, young woman, teenager, senior
Number of persons: no person, 1 person, 2 persons, 3 persons, 4 persons, group
Detail: head and shoulders, Waist up, Three quarter length, Full length
Linbe of vision: looking at camera, looking away, closed eyes
Perspective: front view, rear view, side view
Hair: black hair, blonde hair, short hair, medium-length hair, Baldness
Images without any person: no persons
